Heartfelt Homeschooling

Kath
I've been homeschooling for over 17 years now, and am looking down the barrel of another 17, perhaps, so I've done some re-assessing of how we've done it, and am seeking the Lord about how to do it for Round 2.
There are some things I will definitely do differently, and others that I will not, and there are some things I'm not so sure about.
So, as we start again, I'd like to share with whoever is interested what we're learning, how we're learning, what I'm reading and learning about homeschooling in this new season, perhaps some of the things I did with the older girls, plus resources that we have found or are finding helpful.
I'm calling these instalments Heartfelt Homeschooling because one thing I've learned is that accumulated knowledge counts for nothing, if the heart is not touched and changed by that knowledge.

I've learnt that real knowledge and understanding and wisdom come only from God.

Proverbs 2:1-11
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding –
3 indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose way of life is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair – every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.
